Jerry Whitehead
Jerry is a Cree native from the James
Smith Band, Saskatchewan. Jerry obtained his formal art training in Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia. He
has been involved in various activities as an exhibition coordinator, workshop leader, illustrator, and
teaching assistant.
Throughout Jerry's career, his artwork
has gone through a number of stages. However, the one thing that has remained constant throughout this
progression is his focus on powwows and powwow dancers. Today, Jerry produces abstract paintings of vivid
color, incorporating family themes and words in his pieces.
Jerry's works have been exhibited throughoutCanada and hang in various countries. He currently resides in
Vancouver, British Columbia with his family.
